The Peggy Ann Findlay Arts Center is a 12,000 square foot addition
to the Bosque School campus located in Albuquerque. The Arts Center
includes a black-box theater, music studio, offices, fine arts classrooms
and a post performance lobby. The southeast walls of the lobby are
fully glazed and orient to the school's riverside setting. An exterior,
perforated metal screen serves as a backdrop for outdoor performances
and will provide shading for the music school addition to be built
in a future phase.
With the exception of the theater, the building is fully daylit. Daylighting
strategies include skylights, south-east facing glazing in the lobby
and large window areas in the art studios.
The curved concrete block walls of the theatre and the exposed steel
canopies give the Art Center a unique appearance while continuing
the architectural vocabulary of existing campus buildings.
